Marion J. Johnson
Marion started out as a member at CKO Bayonne, from day one when they opened their doors in 2008. She immediately became "ADDICTED" to the CKO workout which quickly led to a desire to become part of the instructing team. She attained her CKO instruction certification in September 2009 and instructs classes at the Jersey City and Bayonne locations. Marion is available for personal training helping her clients achieve their goals together with hard work and dedication. Marion is a clinical social worker by trade, which provides her with a deeper understanding of the "mind/ body connection". She holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from Kean University and a B.S. in Psychology from Ramapo College. When she's not encouraging you to challenge yourself with one- legged burpees, Marion can be found inspiring our youth as a high school social worker.
John became a member of CKO when we opened in February 2013, having moved to Jersey City from Brighton, England. He was hooked instantly and really honed his craft by taking many classes and with many different instructors. He joined our team of instructors the following December, bringing with him a few tasty drills and phrases from across the pond. His attention to detail and love for the CKO workout style will get you ripped! Not only will you get a great workout, he'll throw in a few choice morsels of British slang for free. John also holds a certification in personal training from the American Council on Exercise (ACE). When John is not leading you in class you may see him sweating and CRUSHING the bag along side you! Lauren joined CKO about two years ago and quickly realized her love of kickboxing. Being a full-time elementary school (now middle school) teacher, Lauren initially didn't think of the idea of becoming a CKO trainer. However, as time went on, she knew her energy and love of kickboxing could help her to become an instructor...thus living out her passion of teaching in TWO different ways! In February 2016, Lauren completed training and, soon after, began instructing at CKO. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys traveling, hiking, running, and of course...destroying the bags during class!
228lbs, size 42 jeans and extra-large shirts. Out of work, depressed - to him, the situation seemed utterly hopeless. In an attempt to better his future, Lou decided to pursue a future in Law Enforcement and Coast Guard, but was disqualified due to his BMI reading "OBESE". This was the point when he knew, without a doubt, that a change was necessary. January 12, 2015 was Day 1 of the rest of his life. It was his first time back in the gym and he was ready to take back his life. After two years of extreme perseverance, making his way toward living a healthy lifestyle, improving his life one percent at a time. Dropping 11 sizes, he is now a size 31 in jeans and a medium in sports shirts. His journey in CKO began working the front desk in December 2016. After a short period of time, Lou was taken back by the member's perseverance. The dedication of improve their lives inspired him as it reminded him of his own fitness journey. Lou now is a personal trainer himself - specializing in strength & conditioning, fat-loss programs and circuit training. He is also Rutgers University graduate, with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and soon to be NASM certified. "I wasn't always overweight, pretty average most of my life. In college; life happens, school happens, relationships happen, and the feeling of being CONTENT happens. That's everyone's downfall. That weight took over my life with a horrible diet. So, I'm someone who fully understands the feelings that come along with being overweight. The stigma and comments that follow it, not only from others, but from yourself. We are our own worst critics, but it's up to us to change our lives. You have to want it, you have to be willing to work for it. Two years into my journey, I'm still working hard. Happy, but not satisfied. Waking up each day ready to OWN IT!" - Lou Instagram: @louieruckus
